What is industrial floor coating?
Industrial floor coating is a coating for floors that must withstand the toughest conditions, such as in a busy workshop, warehouse, showroom, garage or factory. The coating forms a liquid-tight, hard-wearing layer that withstands heavy industrial loads and protects the floor against chemicals, moisture, oil and intensive vehicle and foot traffic.

How does industrial floor coating work?
Industrial floor coating is a 2-component epoxy for floors under the heaviest loads, such as in a factory hall, warehouse or production space. After mixing, resin and hardener react chemically and cure into a liquid-tight, hard-wearing layer that bonds to the substrate. That layer protects the floor against chemicals, moisture, oil and intensive vehicle and foot traffic. In factories and warehouses, epoxy is often used for its resistance to heavy machinery and chemical spills. Here is how it works, in three steps.
Mix the two components
You mix the resin with the hardener. They react chemically with each other, and from that moment the coating starts to cure.
Cure into a hard-wearing layer
The coating cures into a liquid-tight, hard-wearing layer that bonds to the substrate and withstands heavy industrial loads.
A work floor that stays clean
Oils, greases and cleaning agents stay on the surface and are easy to sweep away. After 7 days of curing, optimal chemical resistance is reached.
The benefits of industrial floor coating
In a hall, warehouse or production space, a floor has to cope with heavy machinery, lots of traffic and chemical spills. Industrial floor coating forms a hard-wearing, liquid-tight layer on which oil, grease and cleaning agents stay put, so you can simply sweep them away. That keeps the floor looking sleek and professional with little maintenance. Epoxy is harder and more wear-resistant than PU and generally has better chemical resistance. Provided it is properly applied and maintained, the coating lasts 10 years in an industrial environment, and you have less dust.

Where do you use industrial floor coating?
Industrial floor coating is intended for industrial spaces, such as a factory hall, warehouse or production space. If the floor is under intensive but not heavy load, as in a workshop, shop or office, the Pro Line is a better fit; at home, epoxy floor coating is the logical choice. Choose your space for advice.

Frequently asked questions
Frequently asked questions about industrial floor coating
What is industrial floor coating suitable for?
Industrial floor coating is intended for floors that take a lot of punishment, such as in a busy workshop, warehouse, showroom, garage or factory. Think of production halls too. The coating combines an extremely high load capacity with wear resistance and a sleek, professional look, and protects your floor against chemicals, moisture, oil and intensive vehicle and foot traffic.
What substances does industrial floor coating protect against?
The coating forms a liquid-tight layer that protects your floor against harsh chemicals, moisture and oil. Spilled oils, greases and cleaning agents stay on the surface and are easy to wipe away. Epoxy generally has good chemical resistance. Keep in mind that optimal chemical resistance is only reached after 7 days of curing.
Can I request a tailor-made quote for an industrial floor?
Yes. Use the form on the industrial floor coating page to request a no-obligation, tailor-made quote. Include the type of space, the surface area and any special circumstances, so the quote can be as detailed as possible. That way you get a proposal that fits your workshop, warehouse or production space. If you have questions about preparing an unusual substrate, please get in touch as well.
How many m² do I cover with 10 kg of industrial floor coating?
With 10 kg of industrial floor coating you cover about 25 m² in one coat. The area stated on the packaging always applies to one coat, and for the best result you apply two coats. So for a complete floor, allow double. If you have an absorbent substrate, also allow about 100 grams of primer per m². For a large space you can also request a tailor-made quote.
How long does an industrial floor coating last?
The lifespan depends on the traffic on the floor, the quality of the materials and how well the coating is applied. Provided it is properly applied and maintained, our coating lasts 10 years in commercial or industrial environments. We also give a 10-year warranty. A clean, dry and well-prepared substrate is the most important condition for a long lifespan.
How do I prepare an industrial concrete floor?
Check the floor for cracks, holes and contamination, and remove dust, dirt, oil, grease, rust and old layers of paint. Use a degreaser if needed and rinse with clean tap water. Fill cracks with a suitable filler, free of silicone. Roughen the concrete; 60 to 80 grit is often enough. If a curing compound was used, grind with diamond. Then vacuum everything dust-free.
How do I handle the working time on a large floor?
After mixing you have about 45 minutes to apply the coating; at high temperatures this is shorter. So mix per tin and no more than you can apply within that time. Work in sections so the coating is spread evenly, and roll well and straight. Use a brush for edges and hard-to-reach places and an extension pole to make the work easier.
What humidity is needed for an industrial floor?
The humidity must not exceed 75% during application and curing. The substrate must be at least 10 °C and 3 °C above the dew point, and the working temperature is between 15 and 30 °C. Too much moisture causes streaks, white patches or dull spots. A cement-bound floor must also contain no more than 4% residual moisture and be at least 28 days old.
What protection should I wear during application?
Avoid direct skin and eye contact by wearing nitrile gloves, safety goggles and protective clothing with long sleeves and long trousers. Good ventilation is recommended when using 2-component products, so open windows and doors or use fans. Keep open flames away and do not smoke. Consult the safety information for storage and waste disposal.
When can an industrial floor be used again?
At 23 °C and a maximum of 50% humidity, the coating is walkable after about 12 hours. For full curing and maximum chemical load, allow about 7 days; only then is optimal chemical resistance reached. You can speed up curing with forced ventilation and heating. So plan the use of the space so that the floor can cure undisturbed that week.
